Martha's Vineyard

Tuesday 12th October

Up at 7.30 to a cloudy sky.  After breakfast I was back in my room to check the weather channel.  New York got hammered last night with more to come by the end of the week, not looking too good for my tour, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.  If the forecasters here are anything like home then they may be wrong.  Here's hoping.

I caught the 9.30 ferry and arrived on Martha's Vineyard at 10.30 to be hit with rain.  Lucky for me there is a tour bus across the road so for $29.00 it's a better option than getting cold and wet and I'll get to see a lot more of the island, and hear about what I'm seeing, than if I walked it.  There are some very small towns on the island, a lot of trees, and some really cute gingerbread houses.  We had a stop for lunch, I had a lobster roll, and as you will see in the picture, it was full of meat.  The owner of the shop came on the bus to have a talk to us about the lobster fishing in the area and gave us all a copy of the menus.

We arrived back in Oak Bluff at 1pm which gave me plenty of time to wander the town before the 2pm ferry.

I was back in my hotel room by 3.05 and got started on loading the photo's onto the netbook.  Still didn't get around to updating the journal though.
