Hyannis

Sunday 17th October

We left Plymouth and headed for Hyannis, our next stop in Massachusetts.  We stopped at the JFK memorial for a quick photo opportunity, missed the inscriptions which apparently were right under my nose.  I need to look down more often.  Back on the bus to drive to the transportation centre to park, which was a no go.  There was a train convention in town and the car park was full.  Tom did a fantastic job of reversing out of the car park and back into the traffic.  We ended up parking in a bank car park, well, why not, banks don't open on Sundays so we won't be upsetting anyone.  We had 2 hours to wander around Hyannis including getting some lunch.  Hyannis has only 1 main street, called?????  Main St of course.  There were plenty of places to get lunch but I opted for a tuna and avocado wrap, and what a huge wrap it was.  As I was wandering down Main St I passed a lot of people dressed in costume, there was a Halloween Parade starting at 12 in the local park.  Took some photo's for costume ideas.  I took my wrap down to the harbour, sat on a park bench and managed to get through half of it.  Save the rest for later.  Walking back up to Main Street I popped into a souvenir shop, I really don't neet to tell you what for do I.

We met back at the bus at 1 to drive back down to the harbour for a 1 hour cruise, to see the Kennedy compound.  There were some very impressive houses here, and the one we thought would be the Kennedy house wasn't the right one.  We could just see the roof in the trees behind the big white house.  As we left Hyannis, Tom told us he had a pet name for MJ and played her dedication song for us - SpongeBob Squarepants.  :-)  This was followed by Willie Nelson's 'On the road again' then Village People's 'YMCA'.  MJ asked us if we were going to do the actions to this one - easy.
