Monday 18th October
At 4.05pm we crossed the border into Maine. We had a brief trip
through New Hampshire but I'm saving that bit for when we hit NH for
real.
Arrived in Ongunquit and can only get internet connection in the hotel
lobby so checked my emails and headed up to get ready for our lobster
bake dinner. We almost had the restaurant to ourselves, there was
only 1 other couple in there. The food was great and the
entertainment even better. The dinner was a very messy affair so
we all had bibs to wear, mine kindly put on by Tom. I was
surprised to find the lobster shell very soft and spongy compared to
our crayfish. I thought they were both the same thing, now I know
better. The owner of the restaurant was the entertainment for the
evening and needed a back up band, so 4 of our group got up to help
him, Tom taking on the bass 'guitar'. MJ told us about one of her
tour groups getting creative with whatever they could find on the
table, with the winner creating a mermaid. Sorry, I didn't get a
copy of MJ's photo for you. I figured I should get into the
spirit of things and come up with something creative too, and being the
time of year it is I opted for a Christmas theme. Can you figure
out what it was I made?
