Sunday 31st October
Barb and her family went off to church this morning while I sorted out
my cases. Using Barb's scale I managed to distribut the items
throughout the cases so both came in under 50lb (23kg), it took some
doing to try and geth them fairly even but 48lb and 46lb wasn't too
bad. When they all got home, Barb, Laura and I went back to
Arundel Mills Mall to have lunch
Johnny Rockets, a
50ds/60s style diner complete with a mini jukebox on each table.
The story goes that when a certain son g is played, the staff stop
working and dance to it, the hard part is choosing the right song for
that day, unfortunately we didn't select the right one from the ones
Barb selected.
Back at home it was time to get organized for the trip back to Penn
Station for my train to South Carolina. YaYa had bagged some of
the fudge for me to take with me, and I can assure you, it will help me
on my long train ride.
4pm came around so quickly and it was time to say goodbye to the
family. Silas had been down for his nap and wasn't quite awake
enough I don't think to work out what was going on, either that or he
just didn't want to say goodbye.
Barb and YaYa did another great job of driving and navigating, and we
made it to the station on time. It was sad to leave them behind
but I am sure we will be seeing each other again. Thank you
to all of you for making me feel very welcome and part of the
family.
My train was leaving from a platform that only had stairs down to it so
we asked at the desk if there was someone that could help me with my
bags, he pointed us in the direction of a lift that would take me to my
platform via another one. I then enquired about checking my bags
in and he said to take them on the train with me. Seemed a bit
strange for a sleeper car but who was I to argue.
My train attendant was a lovely lady named Gay, a very appropriate name
for her too, she was always smiling and was a very happy lady.
While chatting we found we are both Aquarians, her birthday is the day
before mine, so I can see where her happy disposition comes from, just
like me, don't you agree? :-) She couldn't believe they
told me to take my bags with me, but we managed to jam them into the
seat so I had room to move. I got settled on the couch with my
book and promptly fell asleep. Gay woke me at 8 asking if I
wanted my bed down and sleep more comfortably. I'd missed dinner
but I'd had some fudge and some more will fill the gap. I think I
managed to read one more page before I was gone till the alarm went off
at 4am.
