I
haven't always had the travel bug, it seems to have come to me later in
life, and I must admit, I probably appreciate it a lot more now than I
would have done when I was younger. I find the history of places
very interesting, although that was one subject at school I never
showed much interest in at all. All those dates, not that I
remember many of them, 1066 always stuck for some reason, and unless I
Google it, I can never remember which battle it was.
My first trip after emigrating to Perth was back in 1986 when I took my
two boys and my mum on a month's holiday to see the family. After
that I had 3 weeks in Singapore in 1992 to attend a friend's wedding
and the next time I took to the sky was in 2002 for a 4 week trip to
Texas. I've always wanted to visit the Alamo, so went to visit a
friend living in Texas and got to see much more than The Alamo.
On my return from Texas, my dad, 2 of my brothers, Graham and Alan and
I took off for a trip to England to visit family once more.
In 2003 another England trip was on the cards where dad & I took
Iris to see the place we came from and to show her around England,
Wales & Scotland. Couldn't get dad on the boat from Hollyhead
to Ireland though, so that's going to have to be another trip one day.
December 2006 sees me taking a 12 week winter adventure in England,
Canada and the United States of America. I met quite a few people
on ICQ when I first got online in 1995 and a few of them are very good
friends to this day. In Canada I finally got to meet Judi face to
face and in the States I had the pleasure of staying with Julie, Gigi
and Michael & Laura.
In 2009 I won a weekend for 2 in Sydney, there was only one person that
was going to be spending that weekend with me, my best mate
Bernie. We had a ball and fit in as much as we could for the time
we had, our legs certainly let us know we'd seen a lot.
In June 2010 I had 2 weeks in Sydney with my youngest son Rob and his
family. My granddaughter Louise was in her first interstate
skating competition. We had a great 2 weeks seeing the sights of
Sydney and Louise did well in her competition.
August 31st 2010 I took off again on a 13 week trip to France, England,
Canada and the States and, although I didn't get to stay with Julie
this time round I got an extra week in Canada to spend time with new
friends I had made, Shaena, Dan & their 2 children, Sydney and
Riley.
January 17th 2011 had me back in the air with my eldest son Matt and
his family for 11 days in Bali. Another great time was had by all
apart from a few that took ill, especially my daughter-in-law Sharon,
who had to hospitalised on our return to Perth.
July 6th 2011 and here I am, taking off again, this time with Bernie
and her husband Tony. I won a 5 day trip to Yellowstone National
Park which we have extended to spend 5 days in Vegas.
