England 2006-2007
The first week in England is spent recuperating from my arduous journey
across the globe. A relaxing time is spent at Our Carol's place.
I have had a few shopping sprees though as clothing was in short
supply. We had a short trip to Manchester and have decided we
will go back again at night to do the Manchester Eye.
The 11th December I took off to Hull, photo's of which you will have
already seen from the Hull page. I had a few more relaxing
days once I got back from Hull, did some shopping, again. Checked
out the skating rink at Golden Square, I was expecting real ice but no,
they had tiles made from some kind of plastic laid out. It didn't
matter to the kids though, they still had fun and at least they didn't
get wet when they fell.
When
Eddie got home from work, he first took me to the Post Office to post
some stuff home.
After the
post office he took me to have a visit with my Auntie Alice,
dad's sister, found out Uncle Cyril had taken off for a holiday in
Scotland and then to Blackpool so don't know when or if I'll get to see
him..
December 23rd I went to visit Aunty Joan and Uncle John and got to
catch up with all the family. From Aunty Joan's I walked to our
Linda's place, fell in love with her Christmas decorations.
While at Linda's I
got a call from Carol to say she was taking Eddie to the doc, he'd not
been well for a few days and was rapidly getting worse, so I slept the
night at Linda's.
Christmas Eve we spent at home as Eddie was too ill to go out, and on
Christmas day he missed out on a fantastic Christmas dinner that his
eldest daughter, Sharon, had cooked.
Dawn had fun creating patterns with the table confetti.
Boxing Day we spent at home as Carol wasn't feeling too good by
this time, although on the 27th we did venture out in the wind and rain
to visit their youngest daughter Louise for another party.
Went for a surprise visit to another cousin, Blanche, and she sure
was surprised when she opened the door and saw me standing there.
It
took a little while for it to register with her, but she was forgiven
as
she'd had a bad night with one of her granddaughters being sick all
night.
Abigail and Amelia were glued to the tv until Abigail saw me with
the camera.
Friday 29th December Aunty Joan and Uncle John picked me up for a
party at Gloria's house, their youngest daughter. It was really
good to catch up with them all, the only one missing was their youngest
son Duncan who lives in Canada.
Saturday 30th December I met up with some of my old school mates for
lunch.
Poor Carol was really too
ill to join us.
New Year's Eve arrived and I was feeling pretty lousy myself but I
managed to last out the party at the Rope and Anchor. Mark and
Dawn picked me up and a great time was had by all.
This story isn't as detailed as it should be but that's the effect that
this cold has on me. It's hard to think straight but I'm sure you get
the picture that I'm still having a nice, relaxing time here in
Warrington. I did hope to go visit Auntie Alice and Uncle Cyril
today but I would hate to pass this cold on to either of them at their
age. Heaven help the passengers on the plane when I leave here
tomorrow morning (Wed.) Oh, I did have to go out yesterday and
buy another large bag but not because I have too much stuff, honest.
My last night and back to the Rope for a few drinks.
Unfortunately some can't make it through
sickness or work, but we still had a great time and didn't get home
till quite late. It was gone 2am before I finished last minute packing
and got to bed.
