Bernie and Tony's Wedding

Saturday morning dawns and 5 weary bodies arise for breakfast.  Tony is head chef this beautiful morning and what a breakfast he served up.  Eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and toast.  My compliments to the chef  and his sidekick for her efforts with the frozen bread.

My apologies now for all the blurry photo's you are going to see throughout this day and night but sometimes I just clicked in a hurry and didn't take time to steady myself.  I don't think you will have too much trouble with them though, I have taken out the really bad ones.

Tony and Craig took on the job of washing cars, Tony's new flash, purple Ford   and my not so flash, burgundy Toyota.  In the meantime the inside has been turned into a hairdressing salon and a craft worlshop.  Pauline was kept busy winding curlers in Bernie's hair, whilst I got busy on decorating the bud vases that we were going to do last night but friends and drinks were more important.   You will forgive me I'm sure for not having any photo's of the curler winding but I found that I couldn't wind roses and ribbon together and take photo's at the same time.

Pauline has to leave now but she will be back later to finish her masterpiece.  Meantime, there is more work to be done, first on the list is to make sure the guy's ties and shirts are not creased.  Out comes the ironing board and poor Bernie is doing something that no girl should have to do on her wedding day

12.45 and it's time for Bernie to head off to the beauty salon for manicure, pedicure and make-up, looking resplendant in her headscarf..  Whilst Bernie was busy getting the pampering Kelly, Craig and I went for a wander over to the shops for a few items that were going to be required for the day.  We return to find the Chef and Chief Car Washer taking time out watching a Rod Stewart DVD, can't blame him for that and what a great choice of music to be watching.    Mike, Bernie's eldest brother, and his wife Karen are on their way over.  It is their 28th Wedding anniversary today, a double celebration tonight for sure.

Lunch is made with a combined effort of the Chef, Karen and yours truly, then it's time to get down to the reception centre with the cake and decorations.  Karen and Mike drop Kelly and Craig over at the lodge where we will be staying for the night whilst Tony and I set off to find the florist where a dozen roses and one buttonhole are waiting to be picked up.  Mike and Karen meet us at the yacht club to help decorate.  The boys did a wonderful job of spreading the glitter confetti on the tables and Karen was a great help to me when decorating the cake table.    Thanks for your help guys.

Karen and Mike head off back to the house while I drop Tony over at the lodge so he can chill out for a few hours until it's time for him, Kelly and Craig to head back to the yacht club for the wedding ceremony and reception.

On my return to the house, Pauline, Bernie and Karen are in the bathroom putting the finishing touches to Bernie's hair, and much to Pauline's horror, I show up armed with my weapon of evidence.    The kitchen was also again used to use the curling wand.

Bernie and Tony's ex- neighbour Carol, who had just returned from England, minus her husband, arrived to be chauffered to the reception with us by Mike, who was kind enough to take a photo of Bernie, Karen, Carol and myself all decked out ready for a wedding.

On the way down the freeway we were a bit concerned that clouds were coming in and with them the threat of a thunderstorm, although they didn't look very threatening at this stage, there were thunderstorms forecast.  We just kept our fingers crossed that the only threat was the image I saw in the clouds, which honestly looked like a shark but the camera mustn't have been at the right angle to get the full shot.

On arrival at the yacht club a couple of  photo's were taken of Bernie with Mike before he escorted her up the stairs and into the welcoming arms of her soon to be husband.

Craig was at the top of the stairs, ready to greet his mum

The guests were gathered around, enjoying a few drinks and catching up with family and friends they haven't seen for a while.  I got a few shots here of Tony, Tony with Kevin, and a couple of Craig and Kelly together.

The ceremony was held out on the balcony, with the city skyline in the background.  Unfortunately some of these photo's are a little dark due to the position of the sun and this amateur photographer.

Once the formalities were over it was time for dinner, dancing, drinking and ensuring Bernie and Tony had a wedding to remember.

Midnight arrives and it's a quick clean up of the room and off to the lodge for drinks with a few friends before retiring for the night.  I found Bernie and Tony on their balcony still deciding whether to go to the pool area or not.    Bernie decides she'll kick on with a few more drinks with friends down at the pool area whilst Tony figured a good sleep was on the cards.  No I didn't go and take a photo of that.  The poor guy deserves some privacy after all.  And this poor old chook needed some sleep too so here the story of a big but special day for two very dear and special friends must end.  I am just so happy the wedding came after I returned from my trip. It was a pleasure and an honour to be a part of your day.

All my love to Bernie and Tony, and here's to a wonderful life together.
